Clock is ticking–nominate people now for the next slate of SAA candidates

I’ve procrastinated about putting this post up, but you can’t procrastinate about nominating people for the next slate of candidates for SAA office. You need to do it by this Friday, July 1. The information, copied from a message to the listserv, is below, but let me remind you why this is important. Wait–do I really need to do that? I’ve seen messages from quite a few people talking about how they want SAA and its leadership to change. If you want that to happen, you have to try to get people on the ballot who represent the kind of values you want SAA to have. It’s that simple. Here’s the information:

2012 Call for Nominations for Elected Office

The Nominating Committee of the Society of American Archivists requests that you suggest names for the leadership positions to be filled in the 2012 election. The Committee seeks names of knowledgeable, dynamic, and decisive leaders from the archives community who can provide crucial guidance to SAA and the archives profession. The 2012 election will select a Vice President/President-elect, three Council members, and three Nominating Committee members.

If you have names that you wish the Nominating Committee to consider for the 2012 election, please submit them with a brief statement of support, via email to Adriana P. Cuervo, Nominating Committee Chair, acuervo@illinois.edu Nominations will be open until all candidate slots are filled, but for best consideration please respond by July 1, 2011. You can also use the online nomination form available on the SAA website at http://www2.archivists.org/news/2011/nominate-prospective-candidates-for-2012-election which will also be available until July 1st, 2011.
